IN THE WORDS OF OUR PARENTS…

WHY SUMMIT?

We believe that education should enrich more than the mind. It should shape a child’s heart and soul, leaving them genuinely hungry to reveal, explore and understand new perspectives.

SMALLER CLASS SIZES

A smaller student-to-teacher ratio allows our curriculum to be more immersive, giving each student the attention they deserve. Our new online schooling option allows for a true one-on-one education.

COLLEGE READINESS FOCUS

We use real-world problem solving and the latest technology to prepare students for their next academic year and, ultimately, college.

CARING TEACHERS

Our teachers are fully invested in each student’s success, taking individual learning styles into account to help every child grow in their own way.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT

Our no-tolerance bullying policy makes Summit Academy Schools a place where diversity and uniqueness are celebrated.

FAQ

Q: Do you have transportation?
A: Yes. We offer bus "hubs" at local Meijer stores as well as other locations. Bus service is available on a first come first serve basis. In addition, we have carpool lists at each building.

Q: Are you a school of choice? Can my child attend if we live outside the city where the schools are located?
A: We are a tuition-free public school academy. The only residency requirement is that you live in the state of Michigan.

Q: Is there a cost for Tuition?
A: No. We are a tuition-free Public Michigan Charter School.

Q: Is there a waiting list or lottery?
A: Each year following open enrollment, if we have enough seats for the students that apply, all students are enrolled. If we have more applications than we have seats, we do have a lottery or random selection drawing. The waitlist is established from the drawing and is used throughout the year.

Q: What is the difference between a traditional public school and a public school academy?
A: Charter Schools were created to offer a different choice to families. We are authorized by Central Michigan University. They provide additional support and oversight.

Q: Does Summit offer sports?
A: Yes! We offer a large variety of sports for all grade levels. We participate in MHSAA athletics at our middle school and high school. We offer many team sports for grades 7–12. We also offer Little Dragons sports programs from grades K–6. You can see all our sports teams at summitdragons.com.
